Day 287 - 288
Barra, Salvador, BRASIL, South America!
***
Once the capital but now Brasilia is!
***
We arrived in Salvador after a 4 hour flight delay! Whats new? South American air lines seem to just have their own time!!
Salvador is so beautiful. Reminds me of Cotts..clear water, rocks out younder, people are friendly and we have a great hotel just 20 steps from the beach! AND..we have our own shower, a double bed, a large cake of soap, (not those silly little soaps most hotels have!) towels changed every day, a fridge and oh gee..what else..a tv, but its in Portuguese!
There´s also a sitting room..with more English books..(reading a great one now called Beach Road!)
And..breakfast is fresh and lovely..guava fruit, guava jam and fried banana slices, eggs, rolls...and fresh orange juice...so nice!
And Sean, the owner is a nice...gay... lively guy too! And irish..so we had a great talk with him about South America today!
AND lots of insects to keep us company..ants, mossies (thank god for the malaria tabs we´re taking) and other things we dont even know what they are!!!
We love it here...the weather is GORGEOUS...not that oppressive humid heat like in Rio..its dry and about 28C..just perfect!
We went to a great restaurant last night..called Boteco Do Faro..and had fango (chicken! AGAIN!) parmigiana...so nice! They serve one dish which is enough for two! The only indication the place might be a bit unsafe is the guard on the corner...and our hotel is surrounded by a LARGE locked gate.....
Oh and the police car with a surround of police outside the resturant, on the beach, observing all the action!
But other than that..it seems safe...
And we´re safe..and love it...
We have three days here...(pity its not more!)´and then we´re off to Foz!
And tonight were off to Samba..can´´t wait!
Love to all!
