We've been strolling around Chicago today! And been 'downtown'....
It's so funny to hear people say that. DOWNTOWN.
They say it in New York and here in Chicago.
Just sounds funny...
Anyway, we've had a great day just adjusting ourselves to this fantastic city. And at the moment we're downtown Chicago. No internet at the Motel unfortunately. There is wirless for those smarty pants who have laptops..but for us. None. So we have to find cafe's. Drats.
Anyway, here we are..after having dinner at Pot Bellys (don't you love the names) and we're now waiting to see the fireworks at Navy Pier. It's the start of Halloween, which of course is HUGE here! Even the houses are all decorated in Halloween odds and sods...which looks like the houses decorated like they are at Christmas. It's an exciting time to be here really...the pumpkin heads adoring the houses..and the fireworks...
I can't imagine what it will be like on the 31st October....if it's like this now!
OH yeah, we were on Telly tonight! hehe
But in the crowd. Acting like idiots.
We were walking down Lake Street, just about on the corner of Lake and State, where the ABC Channel 7 building is..and there were a heap of people waving...and a huge screen reflecting what the crowd were doing...and so we joined in! One guy about our age said, "Aren't we pathetic!?" and we just laughed and agreed. Yep, we were silly, but it was fun!
It's that sort of town. Fun. And the buildings are gorgeous. The people are friendly.
Okies..we're off to the Pier...to see the fireworks..!
Oh yeah, meant to say down at the Pier..people drive those little sedgwicks around..so funny!
Byee..we're off.
