Oslo, Norway, Scandinavia
What a trip! Flying is WONDERFUL!!!! It took 2 hours to travel 1,600 kilometers, from Tromso to Oslo, the capital of Norway. I wanna travel like this all the time........
Our dilemma now is how to get out of here! And where to stay! Thank god for internet bookings! At least if we arrive at a place at midnight we don't have to go searching for a place to stay..and worry whether the inn will be full or not!
Oslo is a funny place. We had to catch the train from the airport to the central train station and then find a map at the tourist centre (none at the airport!)which is situated just outside the train station.
It's funny in that it's a huge tourist place, and the capital of Norway and yet it's poorly signposted. Something we're really aware of everytime we come to a new place..and as you know, we've been to hundreds of new places!
Anyway, we did find the tourist centre, and a map, and found our hostel which is pretty average but what can one expect..on a budget! I wish we could win lotto to do this in style!!
Our aim here is to see Edvard Munch's gallery and more in particularly, 'The Scream' if we can..and to see the Viking Shipyard because this is supposedly where the Vikings come from! Even though the Swedish claim it...and really, when you think of it, Sweden DID own Norway and Finland at one time so probably these countries were Sweden when the Vikings were here!
Then, somehow, we want to get ourselves to Bergen as the Fjords and landscape here is meant to be the most beautiful in the world..so before we go back to Germany we want to experience our last gasps of spectacular northern arctic scenery...
Will keep you posted! :-)
